Generational Diversity at the Workplace In her article ââ¬Å"The Tethered Generation,â⬠in Society of Human Resources Magazine, writer Kathryn Tyler asserts that people born between 1978 and 1999, also known as the Millennial Generation, would bring challenges to the workplace, attributing early access to technology and a ââ¬Å"perpetual connection to parentsâ⬠as causes. The articleââ¬â¢s central tenet is that through technology, this generationââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"tetheredâ⬠relationship with peers and parents has shaped communication, decision making, and need for connectivity. Tyler identifies the following Millennial traits as challenges to organizations: ââ¬Å"unrealistic expectations with respect to goal-setting and planning;â⬠ââ¬Å"only adequate professionalism and work ethic, creativity and innovation, and critical thinking and problem solving;â⬠and lack of autonomy and ââ¬Å"sense of self-reliance.â⬠The article ends by recommending that human resource management prepare for th e Millennialââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"high maintenanceâ⬠and their parentââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"helicopteringâ⬠with policies and training programs (Tyler, 2007). Essay Argument For Legalizing Euthanasia - 2994 Words
A patient is diagnosed with brain tumors that have spread to their bones and muscles. The doctor gives them three months to live, but only with the continuation of treatment. They spend most of their remaining time in a hospital receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments. They must be pushed in a wheelchair because they are too sick to walk and spend the rest of their few months in pain, knowing they will die but not sure when. That is how the last few months of Cristy Graysons life was spent. Now ask yourself, what would you do if you were in this situation? Would you want to spend the last few months of your life unhappy and in pain, or die peacefully? For some, euthanasia is not an option, but for others it is a way to end theirâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦As of 2008, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Andalusia, Thailand and the U.S state of Oregon have made some forms of euthanasia legal. The debate on whether to legalize euthanasia has been an ongoing con troversy among physicians, religious leaders, lawyers and the general public (World of Criminal Justice). The biggest reason why patients choose to be euthanized is because patients feel the quality of life has been damaged due to physical changes. Being extremely sick or even paralyzed can cause patients to feel depressed, and have loss of dignity. Explanations for assisted suicide are pain, hopelessness, and concerns of family members having economic hardship. According to a study of 35 families, nine factors were identified. Out of the 35 patients who wanted to be euthanatized, 24 felt weak and uncomfortable, 23 had loss of function, 14 felt pain from medication, 22 felt no sense of self, 21 felt they had no control, and 3 feared being a burden; This study shows the biggest reason for choosing assisted suicide was found under illness-related experiences (Pearlman). A study done is Oregon also had very similar answers, ââ¬Å"89% felt life was no longer enjoyable, 89% felt loss of dignity, and 79% felt lose of autonomyâ⬠(Pearlman). ââ¬Å"Moushumi wonders how long she will live her life in trappings of student hood in spite of the fact that she is a married woman that sheââ¬â¢s as far along in her studies as she is that Nikhil has a respectable if not terribly lucrative job. It would have been different with Graham-heââ¬â¢d made more than enough for both of themâ⬠(Lahiri 254)| One of the main themes in this story is pressure. Throughout the story Gogol feels pressured by his parents to follow the Bengali culture, to marry a Bengali girl, to eat Bengali food and to live the Bengali lifestyle. We will write a custom essay sample on Double Entry Journal Example or any similar topic only for you Order Now Myself being of the South Asian decent, I can relate to Gogol as well. My parents expect me to marry a Sri Lankan boy because they believe a Sri Lankan boy can make me happy. They also want to continue to pass down our culture to newer generations. This quote foreshadows the breakup that is going to happen between Gogol and Moushumi because you can tell Moushumi isnââ¬â¢t happy with the life she lives with Gogol. Gogol is pressured by his mother to ask out Moushumi a Bengali girl. They end up getting married but as they spend more and more days together through individuation Moushumi realises that she is not happy and this is because she was pressured into marrying a Bengali. She made herself believe her and Gogol had a lot in common and that they had a good time with each other, but deep down inside she only married him because it was what her parents wished for (her to marry a Bengali man). It develops the plot because as she begins to compare Gogol to Graham she realises she isnââ¬â¢t satisfied and starts to cheat on her husband. Bengali parents ideology is that culture guides you in life, it helps find your place. Throughout the story Moushumi puts on a persona of being a happy wife, who is loyal to her husband. But she is really sad about her relationship with Gogol and she transgresses by cheating on him with a former friend. Cheating on Gogol was a good move for Moushumi because this is what helps her realise that she is not happy and in love with Gogol. Gogol is a proletariat who worked hard to become an architect but Moushumi seems to be more interested in men in the bourgeoisie class. She cheated on Gogol with a very rich man (Dimitri) who inherited his wealth through his grandma. Moushumi cheating on Gogol was good for Gogol because he becomes aware of his life and what he believes in. He slowly begins to realise that his parents had gone through the trouble of learning different customs such as Christmas dinners and other celebrations all for him. This relates to peoples everyday life because a lot of people come to Canada as immigrants but they slowly adapt to the country and itââ¬â¢s traditions such as Canada Day. Gogol realises that all the events that happened in his life have shaped him and determined who he is. Moushumi and Gogol lived in patriarchy because Gogol had more power over Moushumi. She turned down a grant offer that she had applied for even before she met Gogol. She knew that Gogol wouldnââ¬â¢t like her going to another country for a few months so she declined the offer. The other reason she dropped the offer was because she needed to take care of the house now that she was a wife. The story follows the stereotype of women cleaning the house and looking after the husband. Moushumi is portrayed as an object who listens to what Gogol says, but she slowly gains power as she begins to cheat and at the end she becomes the subject because she has the power and ends the relationship. | ââ¬Å"â⬠¦read the book he had once forsaken, has abandoned until now. Until moments ago it was destined to disappear from his life altogether, but he salvaged it by chance, as his father was pulled from a crushed train forty years agoââ¬Å" (Lahiri 290)| Another main theme is identities. Throughout the story Gogol only wants an American life, he decides to rebel against his culture by changing is name from Gogol to Nikhil. This quote develops the plot because it shows that by the end of the story Gogol gains more knowledge about his culture and slowly begins to accept it. When Gogol finally decides to read the book he is in the setting of his home specifically his room. This shows that throughout his journey (highschool/university) Gogol rebelled against his culture and it did nothing but brought him back to his own bed. The book Gogol`s father gives him is an anima symbol because it represents the feminine side of both Gogol and his father. Books are known to give information and to express ones feelings, this is also what females are known to do. By giving his son this book Gogol`s father is sharing his life story and how he felt about the train crash with his son. The train crash is a metaphor for life and death because the train represents how quick life really is and the crash represents the end of it. The symbol of the book developed the plot because without the book there wouldnââ¬â¢t be anything to symbolise Gogol`s fathers journey. After Gogol`s fathers passing Gogol becomes the subject in his house. Ashima and Sonia live under patriarchy because Gogol tells them what to do and what not to do. The story also follows the universal unconscious of men being the one to protect their families. As soon as Mr. Ganguli a hard working proletariat passes away everyone expects the son to step up and protect the family. Ashima doesnââ¬â¢t mind this because she is use to having a man protect her. This follows the stereotype of men leading the household and women just being objects and following. Women are represented as weak people in this story because they cannot do things for themselves and they always rely on men. In my household both my mom and dad have an equal say in everything that goes on, they both contribute there ideas. Also in the world today you definitely donââ¬â¢t always find men leading. Women are becoming leaders and filling many positions that are usually occupied by men. For example many women today are working in construction sites and are accountants or doctors. If I was Ashima I would learn to become more independent and not rely on men to do everything, this would give me a sense of pride because I would realise I can live my life without a husband. Ashima`s persona throughout the story is a caring mother who tries her very best to make her family happy. One key ideology in this story is education makes you a better person because it instils positive values. Gogol studied hard throughout university and finally became an architect. Throughout his education he gained positive values such as being very hardworking and intelligent and this helps him throughout his journey. How to cite Double Entry Journal Example, Papers

Lesson Learnt Pertaining Risk Management
Question: Discuss about the Lesson Learnt Pertaining Risk Management. Answer: Introduction: In the current years, the EU has been observed to be struggling to escape its tangled issues. The economy is seen to be recovering as well as unemployment is started to falling down; however, the anxiety of economic stagnation has not increased. The evident solution of EU crisis is to devalue the currency. This could help to regain the competiveness and minimize the budget crisis. By devaluing the crisis, the countries could reduce unemployment rate and contribute to the recovery of the economy. As put forward by Pisani-Ferry et al. (2016), the economic recovery is an integral component in minimizing the budget deficit. However, the devaluation is not an effective alternative for EU to recover the deficit (Dhingra et al. 2016). The nations could leave the Euro; nevertheless, this could be damaging and leading to capital flight. On the other side, supply chain side policies of the nations need to enhance the competitiveness as well as the efficiency. This could be significant for the economies like Portugal and Greece. Moreover, when it comes to growth, the EU has to look at the significance of economic growth. At this particular situation, the considerable policy recommendation should be spending the cuts and austerity. This could push the nations into a negative spiral of lower development, increasing unemployment as well as the tax revenue. How would the society be educated following the event It is observed that the occurrence of Brexit has emerged with an unexpected scenario that has put EU nations in a catastrophic situation. The nations under EU have been suffering from major financial crisis, which leads to high unemployment and stagnant financial growth (Carrera, Guild and Luk 2016). It is identified that due to the prolonged recession the organizations in EU have faced the obstacles in running their long-term operation of business. The large industries in EU nations have lost their ability and size to innovate the business, which has affected countrys competitiveness. The country faced a large account deficit because of the loss of competitiveness. The governments of EU nations have increased their borrowing; consequently, the interest rates also increased due to the anxiety over the default. As the impact, people have understood that sudden breakthrough in business or trade relations could largely affect the economy of country. Due to the economic crisis, the country would face downturn the in the employment opportunities. The occurrence of Brexit has opened the eye of people that country should always develop an alternative way-out for sudden crisis instead of completely relying on the trade relations with the foreign country (Van der Loo and Blockmans 2016). On the contrary, normal citizens in UK have observed and realized that a country should not rely on any external affair when it has the ability to control the whole structure effectively. It is observed that after the Brexit, the percentage of unemployment at Britain dropped to 5%, which in dicates that UK has no reason to stay in a single market where it has to benefit others affecting the own economy (Dhingra et al. 2016). The Built Environment And Tourism Tourism Essay Essays
The Built Environment And Tourism Tourism Essay Essays The Built Environment And Tourism Tourism Essay Essay The Built Environment And Tourism Tourism Essay Essay Tourism has been one of the economic success narratives of the last 40 old ages. It has grown into a major constituent of the universe economic system and one of the most extremely developed and dynamic industries with an of import part to incomes and employment. Tourism has been quickly turning sector and a wide-sweeping socioeconomic phenomenon with wide economic, societal, cultural and environmental effects. It is likely that touristry will go on to rule the international scene for many old ages to come. ( Sharma, 2011 ) The environment is possibly one of the most important subscribers to the popularity and attraction of a finish. Sceneries, pleasant climes and alone landscape characteristics have an imperative influence in touristry development and the spacial distribution of tourer motions. Apart from environment, the other of import tourer puller is civilization in all its diverseness across continents. Cultural touristry has long existed, but recent demographic, societal, and cultural alterations in the chief beginning states have led to an increasing figure of new niche markets in finish states, including culture-oriented vacations. However, like other signifiers of development, touristry has besides contributed to its portion of jobs, such as societal break, loss of cultural heritage, economic dependance and environmental debasement. ( UNEP, WTO, 2005 ) . Learning about the brunt of touristry has led many tourers to seek more painstaking vacations. These incorporate assorted signifiers of sustainable touristry such as: nature-based touristry , ecotourism and cultural touristry . The major jobs arise because the environment ( at least in the short term ) is a nothing priced public good and as with any zero-priced good, is capable to extra demand and over-utilization. This over-utilization of the natural resources and development of cultural heritage particularly during the peak periods of tourer activity every bit good as frequently sick planned touristry development, have provided a figure of illustrations where touristry is in struggle with the environment ( Coccossis, Parpairis, 1995 ) . Not merely that, a s a consequence of environmental consciousness, a great figure of alternate signifiers of touristry been developed in the last decennary. Sustainable Tourism promotes limited-scale, low-impact, community-based activities. It may be defined as touristry that gives emphasis to the contact and apprehension between the hosts and the tourer, every bit good as the milieus ( Smith A ; Eadington, 1992 ) or as touristry consistent with the natural, societal and community values and that allows a constructive relationship among locals and tourers . ( Wearing A ; Neil, 1999 ) . Sustainable environment requires sustainable design. Architecture and design can continue the memorable and old memorials while it can besides make new and attractive qualities in which people can utilize and bask. Architecture has the endowment of specifying infinites and therefore has a powerful influence on the human behavior and apprehension and this is precisely what is ever taken into history in sustainability, maximising economic benefit and continuing the ecosystem. But what should be the attack to this design to accomplish all ends of sustainable touristry or instead what are the tools and rules of architecture that need to be adopted to encompass sustainable touristry demand to be developed. Thus the inquiry to be answered is: What should be the architectural attack for sustainable touristry? Specifying Sustainable Tourism Sustainable touristry is frequently considered to be a particular sort of touristry that entreaties to a peculiar market niche that is sensitive to environmental and societal impacts. This is a narrow position as sustainable touristry is much more than a discreet or particular signifier of touristry. The term sustainable touristry refers to a primary aim to do all touristry more sustainable. It is a continual procedure of betterment, one which applies every bit to touristry in metropoliss, resorts, rural and coastal countries, hills and protected countries. It should be thought of as a division of touristry, non a type of touristry. Sustainable touristry is based on the three pillars of sustainability ( economic, societal and environmental ) and is merely defined by the World Tourism Organization as: Tourism that takes full history of its current and future economic, societal, and environmental impacts, turn toing the demands of visitants, the industry, the environment and host com munities. ( WTO, 2005 ) , Sustainability is a procedure and non an terminal province. The built environment and Tourism Tourism has an inauspicious consequence on built environment. It could be on architectural facade, alteration of landuse, overburdening of substructure etc. Large scale building of tourer installations and other substructure tends to alter the land usage of an country and besides upset the natural ecological harmoniousness of a finish. Besides touristry brings alterations to the common engineering and sometimes the traditional buildings merely vanish giving manner to modern building which is most of the clip non following and rules of sustainability. Alternatively they create injury to the finish, finally losing the character, being environmentally upseting and non suited to the demands apart from commercial facet. Some of the other impacts of touristry on built environment and architecture of a topographic point are: over-intensive urbanisation, illegal buildings, pollution, negative aesthetic alterations, debasement of quality etc. Need Designation Tourism now accounts for 10 % of the universe s economic activity but at the same clip it has major impacts on the natural and reinforced environments and every bit good as on well being and civilizations of host population. Ecological, societal and economic sustainability are intertwined. Tourism and architecture may be connected to the benefit of the two and finally to the benefit of the people. There has been merely a really small research on the function of architecture and the attack that should be followed when aiming sustainable touristry. Since edifice activities like building of hotels, invitee houses, tourer Centres, commercial centres etc rule the development of touristry at any topographic point, there is a demand to develop an attack and policy on architectural developments as portion of sustainable touristry. This job is of cardinal importance as it has led to the absence of an equal theoretical foundation for understanding the kineticss of alternate touristry and the societal activities it involves and reacting to it consequently. Sustainable design and planning do non endanger the economical benefits that a healthy touristry industry can convey ; on the contrary, they can heighten local distinctive features and do usage of traditional cognition and expertness. Where sustainable methods and stuffs are employed, edifices can be both ecologically and economically profitable, thanks to their lower building and life rhythm costs. This thesis will be a little attempt in the same way. Scope Sustainability does non necessitate a lessened quality of life, but it does necessitate a alteration in mentality and values toward a less consumptive life style. These alterations must encompass overall mutuality, ecological stewardship, societal duty and economic feasibleness. Assorted authorities organic structures, international organisations and conventions have stated the importance of touristry and its sustainability. Many states every bit good wish to or hold already initiated the chase to policies of sustainable touristry . Difference between peer reviewed journal article and a research report Essay
Difference between peer reviewed journal article and a research report of an organization - Essay Example However, the academic standards of a peer-reviewed journal are higher and more sophisticated than those of other organizations. ââ¬Å"Generally journals of this nature do not have illustrations and use black print on white paperâ⬠(Hensley, 2012) whereas organizational research reports employ the use of other colors also. Writing of peer-reviewed journal articles is more meaningful, self-explanatory, brief, clearer, and free of phrases and idioms whereas organizational reports are less particular about these things. Overall, journal article writing is more formal than other research reports. There are a number of reasons for these differences of standards. Firstly, the viewership of a journal article is much wider and larger than that of a research report of an organization, which imparts the need for writing to be precise and clear. Secondly, the definite layout makes it convenient for peer-reviewers to evaluate a journal article by passing it through the official editorial process (usa-document.com, n.d.), while peer-reviewing may not be required for ordinary research reports of other

Building construction technology - Essay Example 9 1.0 Introduction This report provides the details of the High Street Plaza Shopping Centre construction. It is located in Towoomba, Queensland, Australia. It will cover the start of the construction until its present condition and information includes when the structure was being built and provides a review of the construction methods, material used, and processes undertaken at that period. This is seen a redevelopment project, and viewed as an important milestone. Constructions are seen as part of economic growth; hence, the new structural design does not only include aesthetic enhancement but also integrates a more comprehensive planning in order to maximize the space into a more useful, long-term multipurpose recreation center that will able to cater more consumers or clienteles. The redevelopment project construction had quite started during the gathering of information and data for this report. The main purpose of the writer of this report for requesting the hard copy of the complete detail of the program of works is to have a basis for the final review of the construction methods, materials and other issues. Lack of document, however, does not affect the report because the writer provides a thorough assessment through direct interview with the people involved in the project development and construction. Regular visit for on-site observation was also conducted in order to collect all relevant and important issues pertaining to the project. Proposal H And M Relationship Marketing Marketing Essay
Proposal H And M Relationship Marketing Marketing Essay Introduction A market entry strategy maps out how to sell, deliver and distribute HMs products in another country such as India. When products and services are exported to another country, the strategy will define ways of obtaining contracts and delivering them in that country. If HM has decided to conquer the international market in India, it is opened to many choices. These options may include the cost, risk and the degree of control that the company will encounter in the country. In entering an international business, it is important that the management of the HM should be able to choose marketing entry strategies and carefully choose the product that the company will market in India. Exporting, is the simplest form of marketing entry strategy which includes direct or indirect method such as using an agent, in the case of direct method and counter trade if the company opted to implement an indirect method. Due to technological advances, direct marketing is staging a comeback, leading to a relationship orientation. Moreover, since HM wants to be known globally, there are many other ways the company can choose from like joint venture or export processing zone. The management of HM may decide to choose the export strategy and include in their operation the specific channels to market their product. Relationship marketing has revolutionized the traditional marketing and has become the biggest paradigmatic shift in marketing practice in recent decades. It has not only changed customers to advocate by replacing customer satisfaction by customer delight but has also increased quality service offers that exceeds expectations. Similarly, it will open new horizons for HM. It will trigger the HM to introduce new products and services. According to Berry and Parasuraman (1991: 25) relationship marketing concerns attracting, developing and retaining customer relationships. Relationship marketing will provide HM with necessary selling approach to cope with various challenges, set by the modern market in India. Relationship marketing transforms single usage to multiple service usage and will strengthen HM by providing them the wherewithal with which they can carry out effective customer services in India. Nowadays, competition in fashion industry and demands of customers are increasing constantly. They demand for global fashion company like HM where there are provisions for an incentive to the customer. So, strong commitment to customer care, attraction and maintenance at all levels are the top priority of HM, while dealing with the customers. Relationship marketing will help HM to overcome these problems and make the sales procedures much simpler. Palmer (2001) enumerated the components of relationship marketing as being: a focus on customer loyalty and retention; long term orientation; tracing identifiable buyers; distinguishing different levels of relationship between the buyer and the seller; high levels of customer dedication; and service quality as being the responsibility of every employee. Relationship marketing will transform indifferent customers into loyal clientele and emphasizes on their retention. Customer retention is the means to delivering long-term profitability in H M. Customer relationships management focuses on customer retention, and customer retention is believed to be more profitable than customer acquisition. Dawkins and Reichheld (1990) found that higher retention rate leads to higher net present value of customers. The longer customers can be retained by HM, the more and more tangible benefits will accrue from a sustained income stream. The end goal of relationship marketing is profit for HM. Saren and Tzokas (2000) raised the usefulness of relationship marketing in creating unique, difficult to imitate knowledge through the processes of interaction and dialogue with the customer. Knowledge about customers can only be enhanced if HM is able to maintain lasting relationships with their customers. The determinants of store choice, customer loyalty, patronage behaviour, customer retention and relationship marketing have been widely studied around the globe. Therefore, a considerable volume of literature exists, especially regarding fashion industry. However, there is still considerable scope for research in this field as the environment of fashion industry is in a constant state of flux and the emergence of new store formats in India has led to dramatic changes in consumer behaviour. New and existing fashion industry tend to provide a completely new experience for their consumers by offering sophisticated customer service, a wide and assorted variety of goods, breakfast ambience, quality imported and branded products. Since, fashion has invading people style of living and HMs the product that has been chosen to go international market. Hence, this research will suggest a marketing entry strategy for HM using Porters Five Forces model (Porter, 1980) and SWOT analysis of other HM companies in other countries. The company is a new entrant to the Indian Market, thus, this paper will provide a marketing entry strategy analysis for the company as it invade the market in India. Competitors Analysis Competitors analysis is very important since HM is a new entrant within the market place. It is essential so that the HM will be able to know their competitors and the possible strategy that they may use to level up such competitors and know the needs of the target market. Thus, this means that HM will enter the India as a beginning industry considering many competitors within the market place. Marketing Entry Analysis Utilizing Marketing Mix Marketing is considered as one of the most important element underpinning successful business creation and because of its complex applications, marketing is defined in a variety of ways (Sheth, Gardner, and Garrett 1988). According to Elliot (1990), the marketing concept was first promulgated in the late 1950s. The importance of marketing concept incorporates oft-repeated elements such as: customer orientation; integrated marketing efforts; and resultant profitability (Elliot, 1990). The marketing mix principles can be adjusted on a frequent basis to meet the changing needs of the target market and other dynamics of marketing environment (McCarthy, 2004). In relation to marketing plan, marketing mix includes both short term and long term strategies makes for a more profitable marketing mix. Long term strategies build brand/company awareness and give sales revenue a permanent, gradual boost. Short term strategies create a temporary, immediate revenue boost by giving buyers an incentive to purchase. By implementing both long and short term strategies, you can attend to immediate sales goals while building your business reputation and goodwill (Kyle, 2004). 1.1. Product HM AB (originally known as Hennes Mauritz) is a Swedish clothing company, known for retail of low-cost designer clothings. It was established in Và ¤sterà ¥s in Sweden in 1947 by Erling Persson, though at the time it only sold womens clothing and was called Hennes, which means hers in Swedish. Persson acquired the premises and inventory of a Stockholm hunting equipment store named Mauritz Widforss in 1968. Persson expanded into menswear and renamed the store to Hennes Mauritz, later abbreviated to HM (www.hm.com). H M is the worlds favourite and preferred designer of apparels and clothing for man and women. In addition, H M is also known not only for their fashion cosmetic but because of the quality of the clothes designed durability and the funkiness of its clothes. Through the online stores, HM provides the regional, continental and European Market an exclusive clothing designs. The main goal of HM is to provide innovative designs of apparels and clothes for different types of people in different countries all over the world. The company is known because of its strategy of providing clothing designs exclusively for each countrys preferences and needs. 1.2. Pricing H M is believed to have advantages when it comes to its pricing tactic. In order to be known into the market place and as a new entrant, the company will provide its target market with an affordable cost while providing them a high quality products and services. The company will be given the customer and client a price that is lesser than its competitors so that the consumer will be enhanced to buy and patronize the H M clothes and cosmetics. 1.3. Placement/Distribution The HMs products will be distributed directly to its clients and consumers in order to be known in the market place. HM products can utilize joint venture strategies with distinguished distributor of apparels, clothes and cosmetics, providing them with great offers, so as to market the product of the H M internationally. In 2003, HM announced its entry into the traditionally exclusive Milan fashion scene. It remains to be seen if HM and other low-end retailers will be able to find a market there. In February 2004, The Gap, another prominent international retailer, sold off all of its German outlets to its competitor, HM. HM launched its first American outlet on March 31, 2000 on New Yorks famous Fifth Avenue. Following the success its stores, additional outlets were opened in the SoHo, Gramercy, and Herald Square areas of Manhattan, followed by outlets in Upstate New York in Syracuse, Utica, and West Nyack. The brand then expanded to other regions of the country, including Chicago and its outlying suburbs. The first two HM stores to appear on the West Coast of the US opened in San Francisco, California on November 19th, 2005. HM opened its first Canadian store in Fairview Mall in Toronto and soon after, its store in Torontos Eaton Centre was opened in March 2004. Following great financial success, HM opened ten other stores within the Greater Toronto Area. Stores were also opened in Montreal in Spring 2006. HM continued its expansion in the Canadian market and doubled the number of stores in 2006. It planned new markets include Barrie, Hamilton, London, Kitchener/Cambridge/Waterloo, St. Catharines and Windsor and Ontario market, Fairview (Pointe Claire) shopping centre, Rockland Centre, the Galeries dAnjou and the Carrefour Laval. (www.hm.com) 1.4. Promotion/Communication HM can use video advertisements, print advertisements and the concept of e-marketing to promote its products. These promotion and communication strategy will tend to meet the consumers form different places everywhere, especially those target markets or the consumers in the working place. Moreover, since the trend in the market place today is the usage of e-marketing, the company will provide a website that any client can access. The use of the Internet is changing technologically advanced marketing overnight while different industries have been trying to use it as part of their marketing strategy. It does not only reconfigured the way different firms do business and the way the consumers buy goods and services but it also become instrumental in transforming the value chain from manufacturers to retailers to consumers, creating a new retail distribution channel (Donthu and Garcia, 1999). E-marketing is a powerful tool used that can be used by HM. E-marketing is defined as the process of achieving marketing objectives through the use of electronic communications technology (ICT). Smith and Chaffey (2001) have provided a 5Ss learning devices on how the internet can be applied by all business firms for different e-marketing tactics. These 5Ss are useful for HM and are se lling, serve, speak, save and sizzle. E-marketing or online marketing strategy can be used by HM to market its products. Thus, the HM has created its own website (www.hm.com). HM will use the e-marketing strategy is to keep in touch to different internet users and to be able to attract more clients and consumers. HM will use e-marketing to accelerate its business portfolio whether the user of the website is a customer, employee, stockholders, vendors, retailers or end customers. 1.5. Market Segmentation Marketing segmentation is defined as an aggregating process clustering people with similar needs into a market segment (Perreault McCarthy, 2002: 74). According to Ravesteyn (2005), customer segmentation is critical for an effective relationship marketing strategy. HM will provide its target consumers for its product by using market segmentation strategy. The segmentation of the market is a critical aspect of relationship marketing and the segmentation of business customers by HM must be in line with the different levels of relationship offered by the company. They need to make use of relationship marketing and management at segment or market level to identify the target market they intend pursuing (Stewart, 1995). Primarily, the context of the market segmentation for this company will be the Psychographics. Strydom, Cant Jooste (2000) identify the following four types of segmentation: demographic, geographic, psychographic and behavioural segmentation. Psychographics includes soc ial class, lifestyle, and personality variables (Chiagouris and Kahle, 2000). The end result of using these variables is a psychological profile of each market segment. Issues also examined the customers loyalties, habits and self-concept. Social class describes how individuals want their office automation will meet their comfort and satisfaction, what they consider important about their immediate surroundings, their opinions on various issues, and their interests. As lifestyle studies concentrates on what the consumer requires, using these study results as marketing strategies eventually became a marketing concept. The marketing concept is a basic philosophy that maintains that HM should endeavour to satisfy the needs and wants of customers through a coordinated set of activities that also allows the HM to achieve its goals at a profit. The HM must be able to consider its consumer, especially the demands of the consumer so as to let the business have an opportunity of having an expansion of its business portfolio as required by the consumers. The focus of this overview is on the behavioural segmentation process, which refers to the segmentation of buyers or customers into groups on the basis of their knowledge of, attitude towards, use of or response to a product or service of a HM. The behavioural variables identified by Kotler (2000) include: Occasions occasional buyers develop needs, purchase, or use products. Benefits refer to the benefits that buyers seek. User status includes potential users, regular users, non-users, first-time users or ex-users. Usage rate will include light, medium or heavy users. Loyalty status are classified as hard-core loyals, split loyals, shifting loyals and switchers. Buyers-readiness stages where the customers are either aware or unaware of the product or service, informed, interested, have a desire for the product or service and have intent to buy. Attitude enthusiastic, positive, indifferent, negative and hostile. Research Objectives: Relationship marketing will contribute significantly to the development of HM in India. Therefore, it becomes essential to study its applications in a fashion company in India. This study fulfils this need. Quantitative research is referred to as a measurement of how people feel, think or act in a particular way and that this survey tend to include large samples from fifty to any number of interviews, structured questionnaires containing mostly closed questions that require questions along with set responds. This involves the clear statement of variables i.e. specifying the dependent and the independent variable. The Arthurian Legends Room :: Essays Papers
The Arthurian Legends Room Sir Thomas Malory was born around the year 1416 and was the son of a country gentleman. He was an MP and a justice of the peace for a period of time. However, in the 1440's he was found guilty of a series of violent crimes, and he spent most of the 1450's in prison. By 1462, he was out of jail. Then, in 1468, he was charged with being involved in a plot against Edward IV, and he was sent to jail once again. It was during this later imprisonment that he finished Le Morte Darthur. Within a few months of finishing Le Morte Darthur, Malory was released from prison. He died soon after in 1471. Fourteen years later, in 1485, William Caxton printed an edited text and gave the work its name. Centuries later, in 1935, a manuscript version of the text was found in the Winchester College library. Le Morte Darthur is an eight-book story about the legendary King Arthur's life. Malory borrowed from a number of earlier works including the French Vulgate cycle (Arthurian prose romances) from the thirteenth century and Tristan, also French. Within the text itself, Malory often mentions the English books and French books from which he drew his story. Arthurian Romances tell the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. These knights live by a code of chivalry with a duty to serve God and their king; they strive to live a life of honesty and purity. In the modern world, Camelot is often used to symbolize this ideal of honesty and purity. (from St. Martin's Anthology of English Literature: Volume I - The Middle Ages and The Norton Anthology of English Literature) Sir Gawain and the Green Knight There is really very little known about the author of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. There is speculation that he wrote the three other poems that are part of the same manuscript as Gawain. They are Pearl, Patience, and Purity. The story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a combination of a number of separate plots that occur in folklore. These plots are the beheading game and the temptation.

Wrath of the Titans
Reaction Paper WRATH OF THE TITANS The movie is the Part 2 of the movie ââ¬Å"Clash of the Titansâ⬠which I watched with my mom at my Mitaââ¬â¢s house. They are both nice but I think I like Clash better. My mom said all the important characters of Greek mythology were present in the first part. I like the first part because of the lady with snake head. She died there. In Part 2, it seems the gods do not have powers anymore because no one like mortals ask for help anymore. The head of the gods asked his son for help. His son is part mortal and part god. But he chose to live as a fisherman in his old village.I think the father was losing his godly powers to help another god to gain strength to escape prison. That is why the son had to go through an adventure again just like what he did in Part 1. I like the fights of the son here. But these are not as big as the one in Part 1 where he fought the snake-head lady and the big sea monster. My mom said this is boring. I think there were only a few people in their place for the gods to be worried. When I look at the son, I donââ¬â¢t even think he wants to be connected with the gods since he already knew that a god did bad things to his mother that is why he was born.He was only forced to help the gods because it will also affect their community. Their town will be destroyed if he will not help his father who is losing his power and the prisoner who is getting all the lost power of the god. My mom said the people in Part 2 were not really part of the Greek mythology, they were just added so they can do a second movie since Part 1 was a hit. One thing I can really say I felt about Wrath is that it was less scary and shocking than Part 1 because of the snake-head lady. JOHN KENNETH KIM I. ARCAN Grade 3-Serenity

I will first start with sexual harassment and what it means. Sexual harassment is defined as, ââ¬Å"any unwanted leers, comments, suggestions, or physical contact of a sexual nature as well as unwelcomed requests for sexual favors (Renzetti and Curran 2003: 225).â⬠Sexual harassment in the workplace is a problem for both employees and employers. Women are the more likely gender to be victimized by sexual harassment. Not only do they have to be careful of what type of job they choose, but they also have to be careful of where they choose to work. Sexual harassment is very prevalent in male-dominated jobs where women are new hires, because male workers will harass the women in order to prove their dominance over them (Renzetti and Curran 2003: 225). This proves what Gruberââ¬â¢s study concluded which is, ââ¬Å"Where a woman does her job is more important than the type of job she does in affecting her chances of being harassed (Renzetti and Curran 2003: 226).â⬠If a woman is sexually harassed she may suffer from several physical illnesses due to the harassment. Some of these illnesses include: chronic neck and back pain, upset stomach, colitis and other gastrointestinal disorders, and eating and sleeping disorders (Renzetti and Curran 2003: 226). Her mental health may also be in jeopardy. She might become nervous, irritable, and depressed. Instead of reporting it, women try to get away from this harassment by quitting their jobs. However, since the problem is so big, there is never a guarantee that this harassment will not happen somewhere else. Employers have also had to deal with sexual harassment problems in the workplace. They try to handle sexual harassment in several different ways. Some employers prefer to handle sexual harassment complaints quietly, through private mediation. However, employers have more success in lowering incidents of sexual harassment if they take a visible and proactive approach to addressing the pro... USE OF Dichloro-Diphenyl-Trichloroethane (DDT) in Ghana for Malaria Control
USE OF Dichloro-Diphenyl-Trichloroethane (DDT) in Ghana for Malaria Control Free Online Research Papers USE OF Dichloro-Diphenyl-Trichloroethane(DDT) in Ghana for Malaria Control The World Health Organisation (WHO) in September 2006 announced that nearly 30 years after phasing out the widespread use of indoor spraying with DDT and other insecticides to control malaria, this intervention will once again play a major role in its efforts to fight the disease. Although DDT has been banned from agricultural use in most countries it continues to be used in limited quantities for public health purposes. Countries continue to use DDT primarily because they cannot afford reliable alternatives or do not have the capacity to develop them. DDT which was widely used in Ghana for agricultural and public health purposes was officially banned in 1985 due to its damaging effects on human health and the environment. The Environmental Protection Agency is the regulatory body in Ghana with the mandate to register pesticides for use in the country. Recent pronouncements by the WHO recommending the re-introduction of DDT for disease vector control have necessitated the preparation of this paper, which provides an overview on the status of DDT in relation to some international conventions and the Pesticides Control and Management Act, 1996 (Act 528) to equip government with the relevant information on the chemical. 2.0 Status of DDT in relation to the Stockholm Convention The Stockholm Convention on POPs entered into force on 17th May 2004 with an objective to protect human health and the environment from Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) which include DDT. Ghana ratified the Convention and is thus obliged to abide by its provisions. The Convention contains details of conditions under which DDT may be produced and used in any country (Annex B, Part II of the Stockholm Convention). These are as follows: 1. DDT may be produced and used only for disease vector control and according to the recommendations and guidelines of the World Health Organisation. DDT may be used when safe, effective and affordable alternatives are not locally available in a country. 2. The WHO recommends only indoor residual spaying of DDT for disease vector control. 3. A country that decides to produce and/or use DDT for disease vector control is required to notify the Convention Secretariat and the WHO. All countries that so notify the Secretariat will be entered in a public register. 4. Every three years, each country that uses DDT will be required to provide to the Convention Secretariat and the WHO information on the amount of DDT used, the conditions under which it is being used, and how such use relates to the countryââ¬â¢s disease management strategy. The reporting will be carried out in a format to be determined by the Conference of Parties in consultation with the WHO. 5. Countries using DDT will be supported and encouraged to strengthen their vector control programmes. The intention is to reduce and ultimately eliminate the use of DDT over time, by making such use unnecessary. In this connection, each country will be assisted to develop a national action plan that will include: a. The development of regulatory and other mechanisms to ensure that DDT is used only for disease vector control b. The implementation of alternative products, methods, and strategies, including vector resistance management strategies to ensure that the DDT alternatives remain effective. In developing such DDT alternatives, adequate consideration will be given to ensuring that viable alternatives present less risk to human health and the environment, and also that the alternatives are suitable for disease control within the particular context of each country. 3.0 Status of DDT in relation to the Rotterdam Convention The Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) procedure for certain hazardous chemicals and pesticides in international trade came into force in February 2004. Ghana ratified the convention and DDT is listed among the chemicals subject to the PIC procedure. The implication is that Ghana needs to seek or consult its trade partners if DDT should be imported into the country. 4.0 Status of DDT in relation to the Pesticides Control and Management Act, 1996 (Act 528). The Pesticides Control and Management Act, 1996 (Act 528) stipulates that ââ¬ËNo person shall import, export, manufacture, distribute, advertise sell or use any pesticide in Ghana unless the pesticide has been registered by the Environmental Protection Agency in accordance with this Actââ¬â¢. DDT has been banned and is currently prohibited for use in the country. Under Act 528, a pesticide is banned when its use in accordance with widespread commonly recognized practice even in the presence of additional regulatory restrictions will cause unreasonable adverse effect on people, animals, crops or on the environment. Section 2 of Act 528 however stipulates that the Agency may authorize the importation of an unregistered pesticide in the event of national emergency or if the Minister responsible for the Environment by legislative instrument so prescribes. 4.1 Available alternatives to DDT The EPA has approved four pesticide products for residual spraying purposes. These are Bistar 10 WP (Bifenthrin), Icon 10 CS (Lambda cyhalothrin), Delete 2.5 EC (Deltamethrin) and Vectoguard 40 WP (Pirimiphos methyl). These products have been tried and tested by the WHO and recommended for residual spraying against mosquitoes. 5.0 Possible problems associated with the use of DDT in Ghana Problems associated with the use of DDT in Ghana include the following: 5.1 Environmental problems DDT is a Persistent Organic Pollutant (POP) and the effects of the pesticide on the environment will increase if appropriate measures are not taken to control its use/abuse if introduced. Cleaning of sites contaminated by DDT and disposal of obsolete stocks is expensive and difficult and should be avoided where possible. 5.2 Possible misuse on agriculture The use of DDT in agriculture was banned since 1985. DDT is however very cheap compared to other pesticides and also known to be very effective against a broad range of insect pests. These properties of the chemical will make it very attractive to farmers to misapply on their crops leading to high levels of environmental and human exposure when the pesticide is introduced. DDT, which was previously used extensively on cocoa in Ghana, is currently not permitted by the European Union, Japan and other countries on cocoa. If allowed in the country, misuse on cocoa (a major foreign exchange earner) could lead to rejection of cocoa exports by importing countries if residues of the pesticide is detected. 6.0 Recommendations Based on the above, the EPA recommends that the Government of Ghana should resist any external pressures to re-introduce DDT into the country since equally effective alternatives have been approved for use in the country. The use of these alternative pesticides should be intensified to control malaria in the country. The Stockholm Convention only recommends the use of DDT if safe, effective and affordable alternatives are not locally available in a country. Should the gun laws be strikter Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Should the gun laws be strikter - Research Paper Example Nevertheless, many people support strict gun control that includes background checks and mandatory handgun registration; even though, it may hinder law-abiding citizens from owning guns. There is need for strict regulation of firearms manufacture and sale in order to intensify gun safety and limit delinquents from obtaining firearms and includes also policies aimed at preventing youngsters from accessing guns to lessen their violence with guns(Gallup Summary 10). Proponents of firearm restriction believe that it improves public safety since it encourages great responsibility among gun owners and offer police great method of tracing stolen firearms (Newport 11). However, antagonists maintain that the scheme is not viable stating that it forms an expensive and additional federal bureaucracy. In July 2012, Colorado experienced dreadful mass killing in a movie theater, and many of the guns including assault weapons and semiautomatic handguns used by recent mass murders were obtained lega lly, similar to the AR-15 assault rifle used to blast victims in the dark movie theater. Many people support strict gun control since most of the reported, violent gun shootings occur in the public place (Newport 6). Majority of the public favor restriction of guns to people convicted for publicly displaying firearms in ways that are threatening; moreover, people favor restriction for concealing and carrying a firearm without permit. The support for strict firearm restriction has been strong in the past few years; with majority of people endorsing police permit for a person who needs to purchase a gun. Thus, the promising response for the shooting would be one that emphasizes the keeping of guns away from criminals and dangerous people. Furthermore, a wide range of measures that regulate firearms and strictly punish people who violate gun laws should be put in place, especially after the unthinkable nightmare at Connecticut elementary school (Carlson 2). Even though, strict gun cont rol has high chances of succeeding if framed as crime control instead of gun control, the NRA (National Rifle Association) lobby thrives on controversy and does not compromise. Tightening faulty federal background checks ought to be top priority, since no serious individual would object to coordinated and computerized record checks that hinder the sale of firearms to domestic-violence misdemeanants, felons and people formally deemed to be mentally ill. Enactment of reforms may not deter determined school shooters from accessing weapons from the black market. Even with an improved background check system, the system could have failed to hinder the Newtown shooter from accessing his motherââ¬â¢s legally obtained gun, since mass killers tend to be young men with deranged minds but who prepare carefully. Moreover, according to Barrett (41) some of these criminals have clean records prior to committing such offences with some obtaining guns from friends and relatives; nevertheless, fi xing background checks are worth doing, since they may deter some criminals and imposition of the 2nd Amendment rights would be minimal. The wake of elementary school massacre in Newtown Connecticut, there was a renewed ban on assault weapons with proponents

Love Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1
Love - Assignment Example The song mainly makes use of the lyrics, keyboard and chords. There is a consistent beat played throughout the song so its time signature is a simple 4/4. This drum beat has been adopted from song by Joe Tex. The rhythm of this song is consistent; hence the tempo stays the same. The structure of this song can be broken down in to verse, chorus and bridge. Like other modern hip hop songs, this song also has a simple order in its structure. The song starts with a chorus sung by both B.O.B and Bruno Mars. Forty five seconds into the song, B.O.B sings the verse followed by a bridge sung by Bruno Mars and then chorus again. This ordered structure repeats twice. Near the end, the order changes from chorus, bridge, chorus. Most of the modern music has almost all of the above mentioned features and these features suggest that they are quite predictable. Classical music on the other hand is very diverse and swerving. Symphony no. 40 by Mozart on the other hand is an original classical piece without lyrics. Mozart wrote this symphony in 1788. The symphony is purely instrumental and its complete musical piece is about thirty minutes long. This piece is melody driven which is difficult to find in the modern pop music. Unlike ââ¬Å"Nothinââ¬â¢ on youâ⬠by B.O.B, this symphony has no structural limitations. Therefore, the breakdown of its structure is not as simple. Symphony number 40 changes its tempo as it has varying rhythms. These varying rhythms are very complex yet the whole piece is temporally very sophisticated. Mozartââ¬â¢s symphony number 40 makes use of many instruments such as the flute, oboes, clarinets, horns, bassoons and strings. The symphony starts with a fast movement but turns to a slower pace a little later. After which it enters into a phase of scherzo and finally ends at a fast pace. The structure of this symphony can be broken down in to four segments of tempo markings namely molto-allegro, Andante, Menuetto and
